Reading is one of the most important skills that shapes the life of a person. A person can be just as deep as his language. It leaves an impact on a person’s personality and his worldview. Developing the habit and love of competent reading in a person makes him a free and critical thinker. If the child is taught at the time when he is not developmentally ready to read, he might quickly lose interest in studying and develop a dislike for reading that he may carry to his later career and even into his adult life. Functional literacy is one of the major crises of modern times and the challenge of the hour is to raise competent readers.
Reading and Writing are always imposed upon the children. I want to home-school my child and this workshop cleared many of my doubts regarding reading like I never knew that sight reading could be so damaging and play can turn out to be a learning experience for children.
The workshop was very educational and gave me some relief from the mental confusion and burden regarding how and when to teach reading to my child.
The research based information, all at one place regarding reading, phonics, contemporary pedagogy, insights on not being able to raise competent readers and many other concepts regarding brain development just took my heart. I can’t thank you enough!
“The Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit. Only those who come
before Allah with a pure heart [will be saved].”
Surah Ash-Shu’ara, 88-89
It is important to recognize the spiritual diseases and engage oneself in lifelong efforts to cleanse
and purify one’s heart. Just like our physical existence would become feeble and lose all its vitality
owing to lack of attention, proper nutrition, and care; our spiritual existence (our soul) also requires
sincere and continuous care through its purification using various practical and academic treatments
prescribed in Islam.
You will be the first to know when the doors open again,
Reading is one of the most important skill that shapes our lives. Reading is a medium of language development too and any human is as deep as his language. This fact was beautifully elaborated upon, in the workshop with the help of research based evidences and statistics. It illuminated the realm which I had never explored before.
