An activist, social worker and former researcher, M Salman Imtiaz is an outgoing
President of Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union. In 2018, M Salman
Imtiaz was elected as President of Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union.
He has Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology (Hons.), Masters in Human Resource
Management & Social Work and Doctorate Degree in the field of Substance
Abuse from Aligarh Muslim University.
He has authored and presented around twenty research papers on national and
international forums. He has also published several articles on the crises like
Substance Abuse, Maternal Health, Sustainable Development Goals adopted by
United Nations, Child Labour, Non-Formal Education, Minority Rights etc.
He has worked under UNICEF India-Polio Eradication Program. He has also an
expertise in research tools and community mobilization. He has also worked with
International Organisations i.e. HelpAge India and Hyundai Motors in Corporate
Social Responsibility.
He has also received international as well as national awards in different fields.
They include Outstanding Personality award by the United Arab Emirates Alig
Forum and Uttar Pradesh Gaurav award in the field of social work by the State
Agricultural & Industrial Exhibition Aligarh.
He actively supported people with food and shelter, during the pandemic and he
continues to work in order to uplift the marginalised sections of society by
providing facilities of Vocational courses and development of entrepreneurship
and other skills.
He is one of the strength of Zaytuna Academy, supporting its mission since past
three years. He is a great help in implementing various projects undertaken by the
Academy. One of them is the Anti-Drug Campaign. He contributes towards the
working of the Academy by providing his valuable advices, suggestions and
expertise from time to time.

It is important to recognize the spiritual diseases and engage oneself in lifelong efforts to cleanse
and purify one’s heart. Just like our physical existence would become feeble and lose all its vitality
owing to lack of attention, proper nutrition, and care; our spiritual existence (our soul) also requires
sincere and continuous care through its purification using various practical and academic treatments
prescribed in Islam.
